I just took apart my front end to replace the wheel bearings. I checked online for bearings and have found a few different suppliers, all ballz or generic from ebay for half the price. Has anyone tried the cheap ones and how were the results? I've used generic bearings before and they were great.

My next question is about the front diff. The machine is in 2wd. When I spin the front right shaft I can really feel the diff spider gears (I think) going around, almost notchy. The left side rotates very smoothly but I think the left is pretty much disconnected when it's in 2wd and freewheels in place. Has anyone else noticed this? I'd really prefer not to tear the diff apart and it runs great, just wondering about it. The oil is really nice and clear and from what I can see through the fill/drain ports it looks ok.

Lastly I need to replace one lower ball joint, have found the all ballz joint online for $20 shipped which seems fair. Any advice on changing it out?

Thanks in advance.

Just took another look at the diff, in 4wd(not diff locked) the diff makes the feeling when the diff is rotated but not if the assembly is rotated. It feels like a car diff with clutches when you roll it around, don't really think it's an issue.

I have put all balls wheel bearings on the front of my grizz. I got mine for rockymountain atv, I think they where $20.99 a piece. I had purchased some items for my wolverine which I sold and returned them to purchase the bearings and scott googles, they are great with returns. Anyways the bearings have been great!

Now to your front diff. in 2WD the right side should feel like something is slightly dragging inside which is totally normal, the left side should spin real smooth. When you put your grizz in 2WD it really just disconnects your left CV axle, so when you give it throttle it spins freely inside the diff. (sending power to the easiest path), so when your spinning the right axle by hand its turning freely inside the diff. the opposite direction.
