So this is the second time Iv had this problem. Both my bulbs popped out and are rollling around in the headlight housing. I have a 07 660. Any suggestions on a bulb that wont get so hot and not pop out? BTW you can get the bulbs out by finding a short piece of hose that will fit in the bulb socket. Then insert the small hose into a shop vac hose and duck tape them together. Then suck the bulb out of the housing. Id rather not spend a big pile of money on bulbs but I don't want this to happen out on the trails at night either. Let me know what you guys think.gr rules

Very interesting.. I have never heard of this happening

But i have the tusk bulbs in mine fairly cheap pretty bright i like'em

Yea its actually a common problem. Yamaha has told me its because the light swith got stuck between low and high beams so both were on and it got to hot and the bulbs popped out. I don't believe it but I think if its the worst to have happen im in good shape. Love the grizz

happened to me too. i was like wtf, both of them? used duct tape on end of screw driver to get out. i am trying the piaa ones.....

Grizz4x4 you don't happen to have the model number or specs on your bulb do ya? I am having a hell of a time finding a bulb that fits. From what ive read the model that works is a h6m. I can't find it at our local wal mart or auto parts store.

G 4x4 got you there Jake.....they are bright. Not sure if they are any better than the tusk. Heard bad things about the Tust ones, so bought the piaa. i hope they are the last pair i have to buy.

What bad things??? All the reviews i read on the tusks were good and saying they were just as good as the piaa for half the price...

But idk i got them cuz they were cheaper and had good reviews but i dont do much night ridding... I haven't even really tested them out yet... I took them on a short ride one and and was impressed but i guess time will tell

The lights on a 660 are not the best design to ever come off
a production line.

Make sure your vents are not clogged with mud - this will cause the
bulbs to run much hotter and can cause melting if it goes too long.

Another factor is having the lights on during the day and running warm and then
going through cold water - this will pop the bulbs rather quickly.
Make sure the rubber caps are installed properly after bulbs are installed; and try to stay away from
high wattage bulbs - 660 headlight housings cant take too much heat to begin with.

Good Luck!

Oh - I forgot to mention this - install a RIDGID 10" light bar or a pair
of RIDGID Dually lamps and you wont need the headlights any longer..........

Lightbar hey? Sounds expensive for the amount of night driving I do. What do you mean modfather by not using high wattage bulbs. How high is to high? Thanks for all the info guys. Oh and to get the bulbs out I tied the winch off on my garage rafters and put the grizz on her ass end. Bulbs fell right out the hole.
Thanks

My headlight bulbs did the fall off and float around inside the lense too. I just put the Grizz in park, shut off the gas and stood it on the back bumper. A few taps on the lense and the broken bulb fell out. I did it again last week after the Grizz went for a "swim" and the bulbs blew and broke off again. I would like to upgrade to brighter bulbs, any suggestions?? I looked at the Rigid Duelies but at $200 each that is a pricey upgrade!!

You cannot put a price tag on GOOD quality light
for night riding.
For what a decent (and I say decent, not great) upgrade would cost in time
and money - the duallys are well worth the money.
Add in a 10" light bar and the the night becomes the day................

I don't disagree the duelies are great but $400 for lights is a bit pricey for me! Maybe when you upgrade again I an buy your old stock? ha ha

Just called a dealer and he said he had some lights for 4 buck for two!! Talk about the different ends of the spectrum anywhere from 4 bucks to 400 buck. Bet those cheep ones are crap! Not sure what Im gonna do yet but thanks for the info guys.gr rules
